PRT 2-1A -Jacob Larrea
If you show regard for others while discussing a topic, you will have a better chance to change their minds then to have no respect for the other side of the argument. This lesson takes place in "Twelve Angry Men" when some of the jurors have no respect for the people that believe that the defendant is not guilty. For example, juror three had showed disregard to juror eight when juror eight had reasonable doubts and evidence for the defendant to be not guilty. (Juror 3) "I'll kill him, I'll kill him!"(Rose 43). After he said that, more people did not agree with juror 3.

The effect the harsh tone and disregard for other's feelings has on the jurors will differ. Some of the jurors who had stated that they had grown up in the slums may be more used to this kind of threatening and demeaning language. While other jurors from different backgrounds may take the language differently and more offensively. Therefore causing them to be more standoffish and become more heated in argument.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you. I've learned that the best way to get your point across without conflict is to incorporate it into your understanding of their side. The blending of the positive with the negative makes it easier to take for the person receiving the information.
